Nigerian Tribune is one of the daily newspaper in Nigeria that has been around for over 6 decades and still relevant when it comes to providing top notch news in Nigeria media industry.
Tribune was established by late Chief Obafemi Awolowo in 1949 and it is the oldest surviving private owned newspaper in the country. Then, it was Awolowo's mouthpiece for his welfare programmes and the paper played a major part in defending the interests of the Yoruba tribe when different ethnic groups were struggling for ascendancy. Former head of states, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida once said he will only take the Nigerian Tribune's editorial column seriously out of all the newspapers that exist in Nigeria then.
Nigerian tribune still maintain the status of being the voice of the voiceless till present despite the political force against them
